Keeping up with Policy Change

Change happens everywhere and HR is no exception. The start of term is a good time to review your HR policies and procedures to make sure they fit for purpose for the new Academic year.

We are pleased to announce the launch of 3 substantially revised SPS model policies for Schools and Academies:

  • Redundancy and Restructure Policy and Procedure
  • Capability Policy and Procedure
  • Recruitment Policy

Following feedback we have revised the procedural stages within these documents to support schools in managing these issues in a more effective and timely manner.

We have also recently reviewed and updated a number of policies in the SPS model HR policy suite for Schools and Academies:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Special Leave Policy and Procedure
  • Grievance Policy and Procedure
  • Bullying and Harassment Policy and Procedure
  • Pay Policy and Guidance

Towards the front of each revised policy you will find a table indicating the sections which have been amended.

The Local Authority expects that all KCC Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools will use these model documents as the basis for their HR policies. These documents are also strongly recommended for consideration for adoption by Foundation and Aided Schools. Academies may wish to adopt these documents in their entirety or adapt these for use.
