Local Authority Update – Kent Scheme Pay and TCP

The Kelsi Bulletin issued on 7th February 2020 included an important update for Kent Schools and Academies on Kent Scheme pay for this April.

The Local Authority is proposing the following changes to Kent Scheme Pay from 1st April 2020:

  • The minimum Kent Scheme Salary is to increase to £9.35 per hour – up from the current rate of £9.00 per hour
  • Kent Range 2 and Kent Range 3 grades are to be combined into a single pay point.
  • ‘Successful’ TCP rating to represent a 3.6% uplift to salary

Proposals regarding this year’s pay are due to be considered at a council meeting on 13th February 2020. Any changes will be confirmed by the Local Authority as soon as possible after this date.  SPS will of course share any Local Authority Updates with our School and Academy customers as soon as we receive these from the LA.

The full Kelsi Bulletin is available here.

Look out for further updates on the Kent Scheme Pay award and TCP process soon.  In the meantime Schools and Academies with an April TCP cycle are advised to review support staff performance and complete their TCP assessments.  Further guidance on the TCP process is available via Kelsi.
