It’s easy to forget about yourself and neglect your self-care when you’re busy and overwhelmed. Focusing time and attention on yourself is too readily construed as being selfish and so you’re likely to feel guilty if you do so. When you avoid things that make you feel physically and mentally well, you deplete your confidence and self-esteem so self-care is important to maintain a healthy relationship with not only yourself but with other people.
